A Trip to the Zoo at CCG Pediatric Blog
What a great time to go to the zoo. We are blessed to have so many close by. Here are a few:
Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park is located on 80 acres of land in Alto, Mi, 8313 Pratt Lake SE, their website is boulderridewap.com. They are open every day. For the hours you can check out their website. Admission prices are not bad, Adults 12 and older are $12 , Seniors 62 & over $8.00, ages 3-11 are $8, 2 and under are FREE. This animal park is a very hands on atmosphere. They have a great barn with many baby animals that you can touch and feed. Even as an adult I enjoyed this area. There was a baby zebra, goats, pony and a Momma kangaroo with a baby poking his head out of her pocket. They have animals that are unusual and that you have probably not seen before.
Our next stop is John Ball Zoo. It is located close to Grand Rapids on the corner of Fulton and Valley (1300 W. Fulton) . John Ball is the 4th most attended cultural facility in Michigan. In the last few years the Zoo has expanded, they have a zip line, sky trail rope course, sting ray lagoon and a newer Tiger exhibit.
The zoo is usually open daily. You can check out their web site for times at johnballzoosociety.org. Prices for adults are $10, Seniors 62 and older $9, Children 2-12 $8, children under 2 FREE.
Another great zoo to our south is Binder Park Zoo, in Battle Creek, Mi. The address is 7400 Division Dr. Battle Creek 49014. It takes approximately an hour to get to Battle Creek.
The website for Binder Park Zoo is: binderparkzoo.org. Binder Park is located on 433 acres, it has many animals, snow leopards and kangaroos. You can take a tram ride to a wild African exhibit and see giraffes, zebras, ostrich, storks, and antelopes wandering about. You can also feed the giraffes at eye level. Did you know giraffe have very long blue/black tongues? The cost for feeding is $1.00 each. Prices for Zoo entrance are Adults $13.50, Seniors $12.50, children under 10 yo $11.50, children under 2yo are free. Parking is also free.
The last thing I would like to tell you about is east of Grand Rapids. It is a new Sea life Michigan
Aquarium at Great Lakes Crossing, in Auburn Hills, Mi. It features 5,000 creatures, 180-degree tunnel. They have your favorite sea creatures, sharks, seahorse, clown fish, jelly fish and octopus. They are typically open 7 days a week 10am-6pm. Adult tickets are $23.50 and Children 3-12 are $18.50. If you get your tickets on line they are 10% off.
I hope this summer finds your family healthy and happy and you get to spend some time together laughing and enjoying each other. Enjoy the animals…. and fish.
